Lucinda Newman
Certified Equine Guided Educator (CEGE)
My life-work over the past 20 years has been focused on the awareness of Self Energy, contribution to community, and stewardship of horses, land, animals and natural resources.
- Veterinary Technician for 6 years with 2 years of technical Animal Science education.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies with a focus on Nature Writing and a minor in Vermont Studies from the University of Vermont; written work printed in several publications; co-edited and wrote for the Environmental Program newsletter; trained and raced with the UVM Cycling Team.
- Master of Studies degree in Environmental Law & Policy from Vermont Law School and an Academic Excellence Award in Environmental Ethics.
- Owner of Newman Consulting, LLC, an Executive Consultancy of Organization & Program Management, consulting for private and public entities: Central Vermont Community Action Council Community Economic Development, Town of Moretown Planning Commission, Montessori School of Central Vermont, Vermont Natural Resources Conservation Service, Vermont Organics Reclamation, Vermont Association of Conservation Districts, Composting Association of Vermont, Newmont Farm, Vermont Artisan Coffee and Tea, Planet Green, South Hero Land Trust.
- Woman Within International Initiate then coordinator of a self-led Central Vermont Women’s Empowerment Circle - meeting 3 hours every week to continue the deeper teachings of Self. Within a safe and sacred space, the "E-circle" practices group facilitation, self leadership, moving forward, non threatening communication skills, and shifting emotional states. For almost 8 years this was my practicing grounds for becoming a leader in facilitation.
- Volunteer at Humane Organization for Un-Raceable Standardbred Equines, a retired race horse farm in Jeffersonville, Vermont. Working there made it clear that 'retired' Horses have valuable gifts to contribute.
- Student of Natural Horsemanship work of Pat Parelli, GaWaNi Pony Boy, Monty Roberts, John Lyons and Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling. Principles of Natural Leadership and non verbal communication emerged daily. I took notice that the horses responded to me more effectively and efficiently than I responded to myself. My greatest teacher has been the Horse - - I learned a great deal about their deep Spirit and emerging competencies - - and mine. I sensed something moving, unseen and important.
-
Attendee of the First Annual Equine Guided Education Association conference in 2005 and then through rigorous training and classes was certified as an Equine Guided Educator and Coach. I emerged with a formal dedication to EGE service, to then establish and operate Horses & Pathfinders, LLC. Currently working on the next level of EGE certification.
-
Student of Ariana Strozzi, pioneer of Equine Guided Education, whose clients include Nike, UC Berkeley - Haas School of Business AutoDesk, Apple Institute for Women’s Leadership, Barnes & Noble, Cisco Systems, Dept. Homeland Security, Proctor and Gamble, Visa Credit Card, Agilent, Wells Fargo Bank, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Perform.
- Partner with a variety of horse tribe representatives along my path, including: QuarterHorse, Standardbred, Lippitt Morgan, Tennesse Walker and Percheron Draft. The horses I team with live in a comfortable, free and natural environment without wearing shoes, bits, buckles or saddles and with access to a variety of natural feed and resources.
Guides: Those who find paths through unexplored territory
Poppe, American Standardbred gelding

'Carrarra Cutter', as he was formally known, was quite a success at Saratoga Springs, New York, during his service as a racetrack Trotter. While there, he was named 'Horse of the Year' two years in a row. In the late 1990's he landed at a retired race Horse farm in Jeffersonville, Vermont where he and I first met - we both instantly knew we were meant to meet, entirely relaxing in one another's presence. And while I opened the gate for Poppe to exit the RRHF and invited him to his next assignment, Poppe was truly the one to open a life gate for me - on a path yet unexplored. With a breath of renewed purpose, Poppe guided my learning of natural partnership and bareback riding - inevitably escorting me into the world of Equine Guided Education.
Pepper, American Standardbred mare

'Lyndon's Red Hot Pepper' was her racing name. She raced for three seasons then served as a brood mare. As the history of her scars tell, she was involved in a trailering accident and survived her injuries. Amazingly she is affectionate and loves to be handled by people. Pepper's role at Horses and Pathfinders has become life teacher and natural lead mare of this herd of three. She has wonderful ground manners and has a smooth and natural disposition for 'in to me I see' (intimacy) work .
Inra, Quarter Horse, Paint gelding
Inra, translated from American Indian language, means 'Apache Chief's Horse'. It was not uncommon for the Chief of a tribe to choose a horse marked with a Medicine Hat because it was believed that this horse had superior strength, stamina, courage and speed. Inra also exhibits a Moon Eye, a blue eye that is thought to be mystical - though we sometimes think Inra's Moon Eye to be the stuff of mischief! For almost his entire life, Inra has been immersed in Natural Partnership Learning and Equine Guided Education. He is highly attuned to boundary work, setting limits and making light work of heavy challenges; he responds to a person's energy and inner state with special attention and candor.
