Getting On Horse Time (GOHT) sessions at Horses and Pathfinders are geared for youth and teens from 10-18 years of age - individual or groups.

Prior horse experience is not required.

GOHT focuses on developing rewarding relationships and partnerships with horses. We become students of the horse as we develop our ‘feel’. Learning to ‘feel’ our way and ‘lead by listening’ allows us to understand any horse in any situation and improve our communication and coordination with our selves, horses and people.

Topics of sessions include:

  • biological principles of the horse/human relationship
  • importance of nonverbal communicators
  • intuitive listening
  • observation skills
  • self energy

Just a few of the activities we’ll explore:

  • Horse herd dynamics - Relating to horse social structure
  • Haltering & appendage exercise - Show of respect & team coordination
  • Horse painting - Like Native Americans used to do, we’ll prepare for the ‘vision quest’
  • Grooming and hoof picking - Responsibility and pride of care
  • Tuning in - Landscape observations of nature, wildlife and horses
  • Horse Games - How do I get a horse to join up with my ‘team’?
And more . . . .

  • $65 per session (1.5 hours)
  • Small groups of up to 6 can be arranged

Equine Guided Education (EGE) integrates equine activities, kinesthetic learning and cognitive insight in developing self-responsibility, a healthy self-image, as well as social and relationship building skills. EGE can be found in a wide variety of human learning methods.

Lucinda Newman, Certified Equine Guided Educator and Coach creates a supportive, healthy and safe learning environment for Youth and Teens to learn about themselves and develop skills relevant to their lives.
